The Devonian Period

  • There are no rocks of Silurian age found on Arran. It is thought that the folding in the Ordovician rocks found in North Glen Sannox, occurred during the Silurian and was related to the Grampian Orogeny. During the Silurian the Arran land mass was at a latitude of  about 15oN.
